Vaught, Analee Athanas - Analee Athanas Vaught, 76, of Hot Springs died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at home.
Born December 11, 1928, at Hot Springs to Athas James and Lee Ella Wallace Athanas, she attended Texas Women's University, Southern Methodist University and Henderson State College from 1946-1949.
She was a copywriter and programmer for radio stations KTHS from 1950-1954, KBLO and KWFC from 1954-1962 and DeSoto Bath House manager from 1963-1974.
She was the first director of Garland County RSVP from 1974-1976 and Garland County Senior Companions Program from 1976-1991.
She was the Senior Companions Program's grant manager from 1991-1998.
She was president of the Community Service Office in the 1980s and Mental Health Association in the 1970s; Lakewood Convalescent Home Board second vice secretary and Garland County Council on Aging Board second vice president in the 1990s; and Community Players president and executive director in the 1970s.
She was a member of Gov. Bill Clinton's Advisory Council on Aging.
she was awarded the Community Service Award for Best Work with Charities in the 1980s.
She established an all-volunteer Senior Companions Program satellite operation in Hot Springs Village, was a licensed social worker and continued serving on various boards during her retirement.
She was predeceased by her brother, Lt. Col. Athas James Athanas (retired); as well as one sister, Carolyn B. Athanas Asberry.
Survivors include one nephew, James F. Asberry of Seattle; four nieces, Carolee A. Scherer of Leawood, Kansas, Janice L. Duty of Dexter, Missouri, Lynn Athanas and Amanda Athanas; one brother-in-law, E. F. Asberry of Dexter; 11 great-nieces and nephews and three spouses; and two great-great-nieces.
The service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Gross Funeral Home chapel with Ray Conrad officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Venable, Mary Lillyan Stitt - Mary Lillyan Venable, 80, of Hot Springs died Saturday, May 11, 1996, at a local hospital.
Born February 29, 1916, in Pawnee, Nebraska, to Roy S. and Rosa Nelson Stitt, she was a homemaker, a 1935 graduate of Hot Springs High School and member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff A. and Debbie Venable of Hot Springs; one daughter, Carolyn Venable Greene of Magnolia; one brother, Frank R. Stitt of Hot Springs; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hot Springs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Wilson officiating.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Grantham, David Cross, Timothy King, Scott Venable, Shawn Venable and Ren Caldwell.
