Gianakopoulos, Anna Jean Pappas - Anna Jean Gianakopoulos,
48, of Springfield, Ohio, died Tuesday at a Columbus, Ohio, hospital.
She was born in Hot Springs December 28, 1932, the daughter of William and
Stella Pappas. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church.
Survivors
include her husband, Dr. James G. Gianakopoulos of Springfield, Ohio; her
mother, Stella Pappas of Hot Springs, one daughter Antigone Gianakopoulos;
two sons, George and William Gianakopoulos all at home; and one brother,
Dr. Socrates Pappas of San Diego, California.
Services will be held at
2 p.m. Friday in the Greek Orthodox Church in Springfield, Ohio. Burial
will be in Springfield. Memorials may be made to the Greek Orthodox

Gibson, Jim - Jim Gibson, 71,
of Hot Springs went home to God Wednesday, August 17, 2005, after a battle
with pancreatic cancer.
He was born April 25, 1934, in Hot Springs to
Andrew Marvin Gibson and Ona Marie Orrell Gibson. His grandparents were
John Cannon Gibson and Mary Caldonia Grantham Gibson, and Jesse James Orrell
and Mae Dee Smith Orrell.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy
Smith Gibson, and three daughters, Lisa Sanderock of Russellville, Robin
Wingard of Conway, Holly and Jim Thorwarth of Hot Sprigns, and one son,
James Joel Gibson of Reno, Nevada. He had four children, Chris Sanderock,
Katie Sanderock, Matthew Wingard and Timothy Douglas. He is also survived
by one sister Linda Dean of Hot Springs and nephew Andy Dean, and an abundance
of friends who are like family.
He was a member of Christway Unity Church
where he was a member of the Men's Service Group (MSG's). He enjoyed cooking
for the church's annual pancake breakfast with his friends Jerry Stout and
Sig Grossman. In is youth, he was a member of Park Place Baptist Church.
He graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1953 and from Ouachita Baptist
College in 1959 with a degree in economics. He started to work for Safeway
in Arkadelphia, where he served on the Arkadelphia Volunteer Fire Department
for five years. He worked for Safeway for 39 years, much of that time in
management, moving from Arkadelphia to Little Rock, Monticello, Greenwood,
Mississippi, and Pine Bluff, making many friends in each location.
Jim
enjoyed woodworking and in 1977, he started building birdhouses to sell
at craft shows, and that developed into a business that lasted the rest
of his life. Widely known as "The Birdhouse Man," he displayed and sold
his creations throughout several states, where he enjoyed making new friends
on the craft show circuit. He had a booth at the Garland County Extension
Homemakers' October craft show for over 30 years.
After retiring from
Safeway and returning to Hot Springs, he missed meeting the public and went
to work as greeter in in the Instant Racing Room at Oaklawn Park, where
he was known for his friendly greetings and his many horse racing neckties.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Stout, Lewis May, Ed Ellis, Bob Berry, Roy May,
Mike Radimer, Dick Douglass, Tim Miller and Clayton Stroud.
Honorary
pallbearers are O. R. Goldman, Ron Utterbeck, Jesse Inman, John Oshner,
Bobby Giegler and the employees of Oaklawn Instant Racing.
The family
wishes to thank Dr. Tim Webb, Dr. and Mrs. Ron Kaler, Dr. Mike Bodemann,
Dr. Steve Bodemann and Dr. Don Bodemann. The family would also like to express
warm appreciation for the care and compassion given to him by the staff
of St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center's 4 East.
Visitation will be 5 to
8 p.m. Friday. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home
with the Rev. Leona Lawson and Rev. Gary Stinson officiating. Burial will
be at Greenwood Cemetery. The family will be at his daughter's home at 103
Shady Hills Drive after the service.

Gibson, Shirley Ann Sanders
- Shirley Ann Gibson entered heaven on October 8, 2014. She was born on
February 2, 1935, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to Merle and Christine Sanders.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life, her
husband of forty-four years, John (J.C.) Gibson and a brother Jimmy Sanders.
Left behind to cherish her memories are her children: George Jensen
and his wife Erika, John Gibson and his wife Missy and Denise Elkin and
her husband Leo; brothers Glen Sanders and Ed Sanders; a sister Sandy Matlock;
special Uncle, Guy Siratt; numerous nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law;
the loves of her life her grandchildren; who lovingly called her Goggy -
Ryan, Tori, Dakota and Shannon Jensen, Sydney, Bailey, Jaxon and Brooklyn
Gibson, Josh Elkin (Samantha), great-granddaughter Kaydence Elkin and soon
to arrive Addelynn Grace Elkin.
Shirley was a lifetime member of the
First Church of the Nazarene. She loved attending church and praising God.
Shirley planned her week not by the days of the week but "before church
or after church day." She was a woman who always put Christ first.
Shirley
helped found the family business John Gibson Auto Sales with her husband
J. C. and son John. She also loved raising thoroughbred horses.
Shirley
graduated from Hot Springs High School and worked a few jobs before her
career at JC Penney; where she spent thirty-nine years as catalog manager
before retiring. Shirley made many lasting friendships, and made weekly
visits an excursion while catching up with her friends and handing out her
root-beer candy.
The legacy she left on this earth will continue to
thrive in her children, grandchildren and friends.

will be Chris Gibson, Frank Cooper, CJ Stephens, Josh Elkin, Ryan Jensen,
Dakota Jensen, Shannon Jensen, Cliff Rushing and Jaxon Gibson.

pallbearers are lifetime assistant and friend Mona Hamilton; Rosie Perry,
Jorja Fouroux, Dot Mooney, Rebecca Turner, Kim Arnold, the many many caregivers
that loved and cared for her, Stephen Carter, Tim Fourroux, the staff at
HHC who provided excellent care, the staff at John Gibson Auto Sales, employees
of JC Penney, Ken Carney, Connley Henderson and her Church family at Hot
Springs First Church of the Nazarene.
Visitation will be from 3:00 –
5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014, at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. Service
will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday October 12 at the First Church of the Nazarene
with Pastor Ken Carney officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens.

Gluck, Jane Maclin Brown
- Jane Maclin Gluck, age 77, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014 in Fayetteville,
Arkansas. She was born on October 16, 1936 in Hot Springs, and was a long-time
resident of both Eureka Springs and Fayetteville.
She is survived by
her son, Gregory Gluck and wife, Jacki, of Henderson, Nevada; daughter,
Lynne Gluck-Berry, of Hot Springs; her only sister, Marilyn Regina Sebourn
of North Little Rock; sister-in-law Margaret Brown of Laguna Beach, California,
three grandchildren and her loyal dog friend, Pan.
She was preceded
in death by her husband, Allen Edwin Gluck, parents, Boyd Mack Brown and
Linnie Orene Smith, as well as her siblings, Jerald Mack Brown and Gary
Lynn Brown.
Jane lived in many places throughout her life, including
Germany, the Bahamas, Lake Tahoe, and Las Vegas, but always felt most at
home in the Natural State of Arkansas. She enjoyed entertaining and cooking
for people, which made her a wonderful House Mother at the University of
Arkansas, Fayetteville. She was also a lover of long car rides in the country,
cooking, story-telling, history, genealogy, nature, and chocolate malted
milkshakes.
No services are planned. Donations in her name may be made
to Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Goff, John Proctor - John Proctor Goff, 74, of Hot Springs,
passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2004.
He was born on December 6, 1929,
in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to Stuart A. and Flossie Small Goff.
He was
a member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, the Rotary Club of Texarkana,
Arkansas, and the Anus de Equus Cabaluss. He was a retired Army veteran,
serving in the Korean War in the triple nine Artillery Battalion and in
Vietnam in the 101st Airborne Rangers.
He graduated from Ouachita Baptist
University with a Bachelor of Science degree and earned a Master's Degree
in clinical psychology from Johns Hopkins University.
He was an Alcohol
and Drug Abuse Counselor at the Mental Health Center in Hot Springs, the
State Deputy Director of Drug and Alcohol Abuse in Little Rock for two years,
and Executive Director of Red River Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse in
Texarkana, Arkansas, for 17 years until his retirement in 1996.
He as
predeceased by his parents and his brother, Gene Goff, all of Hot Springs.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Ann Holder Goff of Hot Springs;
three sons, John Goff, Jr., of Hot Springs; Gene Goff and his wife, Anne,
of Kutzenhausen, Germany, and Dean Goff of Hamburg, Germany; two daughters,
Goff of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Vanessa Legere and her husband, Tom
of Dallas, Texas; his niece, Kathleen Brooks of DesPeres, Missouri; and
five grandchildren. He also is survived by two half brothers, Glenn
Goff and his wife, Pam, of Galveston, Texas, and Stanley Goff of Raleigh,
North Carolina; one half sister, Celia Wildroot of Hot Springs; his stepmother,
Jean Goff of Hot Springs; three stepchildren, Dianne Parker, Jennifer Outler,
and Richard Gilliam and his wife, Vickie; and four step-grandchildren, all
of Hot Springs...
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 15,

Goodrum, Susan Jeanne Ellis
- Susan Jeanne Goodrum went to be with her savior on May 23, 2014. She was
the daughter of the late Leonard R. Ellis Jr. and Jeanne Pamplin Ellis of
Hot Springs, Arkansas. She is survived by her husband William A. Goodrum
Jr. (Buddy) and her three sons William A. Goodrum, III (Skip), Richard Allan
Goodrum, Michael Waites Goodrum and numerous grandchildren.
She was
born in 1945 in Hot Springs, Arkansas where she lived her entire life. After
graduating from Hot Springs High School in 1963 she entered William Woods
College in Fulton, Missouri where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Music.
She was a charter member of the Alpha Phi Sorority and a lifelong supporter.
She and Buddy Goodrum were married in 1968 in Hot Springs at First United
Methodist Church.
Teaching was a passion and a love of Susan’s. Before
her sons were born, she taught a year at Lakeside Elementary. She later
continued her teaching career at St. John's School for one year, and 3rd
grade at Greenwood and Gardner Elementary Schools for 17 years, retiring
in 2000.
She loved music: teaching it, performing it, and sharing it.
Susan served as choir director at First United Methodist Church for 7 years,
and Oaklawn Methodist Church for three years. She loved being known as
The Wedding Singer. Her Lord's Prayer and O Holy Night
were her memorable staples.
Inheriting her father's political gene,
Susan served as president of the Hot Springs Classroom Teachers Association,
being the key contact for Senators Dale Bumpers and David Pryor. Having
her mother Jeanne's gift for cooking, Susan was sought after for her "famous"
Coconut Cream and Chocolate Pies.
Having concern for teens in Hot Springs,
Susan became a member of CASA and through that program touched many lives.
She and her favorite faithful canine companion Crockett also touched lives
by participating in the Pet Therapy Group. They made a great team and were
constant companions. She was also a very committed member of PEO and loved
her many friends there.
She loved her church, First United Methodist,
where she was a lifelong member. She was a charter member of the Helen Wilson
Circle and helped found the Seekers Sunday School Class. She had "her pew"
down front when she wasn't singing in the choir.
In 2013, Susan was
the recipient of the Karen Rutledge Survivor Award for Community Service.
This award was presented by Our Promise Cancer Resources.
Susan loved
life and enjoyed doing many things, including but not limited to: Razorback
anything, the race track on Fridays, bird watching, the Hot Springs Music
Festival, Relay for Life, The Bridge House, leading the Twelve Days of Christmas
(a family tradition) on Christmas Eve, her lake swing, her dog, her friends,
her family and all her precious grandchildren.
She valiantly fought
a long battle with cancer without complaint and always maintained that beautiful
signature smile that we all loved. A visitation service for Susan will be
held Tuesday, May 26th at Gross Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. This
will be followed by a celebration of her life at First United Methodist
Church at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27th. She will be greatly missed.

Graham, Joyce "Joy" Wheatley
- Joyce "Joy" Graham, age 87, of Bonnerdale, died Sunday, July 17, 2011.
She was born on September 11, 1923, in Hot Springs, the daughter of Henry
Ervin Wheatley and Dollie Belle Arman Wheatley. She was preceded in death
by her husband, George F. Graham; her parents; her son, George C. Graham;
and one sister, Loyce Myers.
She was a member of Pearcy Full Gospel Lighthouse.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Tina Graham of
Bonnerdale; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Andrea L. Reppo Jones and
John Jones of Havanna, Sandrea J. Harvey and Nancy and David Price all of
Bonnerdale; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister,
Carolyn Garrett of Bonnerdale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral
services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2011, in the Davis-Smith
Funeral Home, Hot Springs with Sister Kathleen Griffin officiating.
Interment
will be in the Mazarn Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith

- Joyce Ann Lowder Graves, 68, of Hot Springs died Thursday, May 31, 2007,
in a local hospital.
Born at Hot Springs to W. L. "Buster" and Lucille
Hayes Lowder, she was a personal aide for First Step School, Avon representative,
member of Avon's President Club, Park Extension Homemakers, the first Hot
Springs Arts and Crafts Fair Committee, former member of Garland County
Fair Board and originated the Garland County Fair Queen Contest.
Survivors
include one son, Scott Graves of Hot Springs; one brother and sister-in-law,
Phillip and Karen Lowder of Hot Springs; one sister and brother-in-law,
Judy and Charles Hughes of Hot Springs; three grandchildren, Elijah Gipson
Graves, Benjamin Scott Graves and Abram Stephens Graves; nieces; and nephews.
The service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Park Place Baptist Church with the
Revs. Clarence Shell, Jr., and Jimmie Dale Johnson officiating.
Pallbearers
will be Jeff Lowder, Tim Hughes, Chris Lowder, Paul Williams, John Hood
and Quinton Lowder.
Honorary pallbearers are St. Joseph's Mercy Health
Center ICU staff, Drs. Tim English, Vladimir Karpitsky and Robert Johnson,

Green, William W. "Bill"
- William W. "Bill" Green, age 66, of Hot Springs died Sunday, June 13,
1999, in a local hospital. He was born January 19, 1933, in Hot Springs
to Waller Onis and Snoda Fleming Green. He was predeceased by his parents
and two sisters, Marilyn Green Jones and Genevee Green Beasley.
Survivors
include four children, Lizette Green of Nashville, Tennessee, Sgt. Wally
Green of St. Louis, Missouri, Vail Green Carlson of Denver, Colorado, and
Tom Green of Seattle, Washington; a sister, Barbara Arnold of Troy, Missouri;
four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. From 1954 to 1958, he
served as a Naval Fighter Pilot aboard the USS Yorktown. A 1951
graduate of Hot Springs High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science in
Business Administration from the University of Arkansas and graduated from
the U.A. School of Law in Fayetteville. He was a member of the American
Bar Association, the Arkansas Bar Association, the Garland County Bar Association
and the University of Arkansas Alumni Association, a former member of the
Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association, American Trial Lawyers Association and
the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce.
He was licensed to practice
law before the Arkansas State Courts, United States District Court, U.S.
Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Services will be Wednesday,
June 16, 1999, at 10 a.m. at Gross Funeral Home. Visitation will be from
4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 1999. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be
made to the Garland County Historical Society or to the American Heart Association.
Pallbearers will be Keith Arman, Bill Holloway, Darryl McGonagill, Donnie

Grisham, Don A. - Don A. Grisham,
84, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away August 4, 2014. He was born June
28, 1930, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to the late Allen Rueben and Opal Larue
(Chitwood) Grisham. Don combined his love of journalism and thoroughbred
racing into a career that began with the Arkansas Democrat. He then served
as a columnist for The Daily Racing Form for thirty four and one-half years.
After retirement, Don performed media relations for Oaklawn Park Race Track.
He won many lifetime honors for his journalism endeavors around the world,
including his induction in 2009 into the Arkansas Walk of Fame. Each year
on April 6, the City of Hot Springs recognizes Don’s contributions with
“Don Grisham Day”.
Don is preceded in death by his parents and sister,
Charlotte Hurst. He is survived by his wife, Iris Grisham of Hot Springs,
Arkansas; brother Danny S. Grisham (Retta) of Steilacoom, Washington; brother-in-law
Overton Hurst (Gayle) of Hot Springs, Arkansas and a host of nieces, nephews
and their families.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Caruth-Hale
Funeral Home with Bro. Tony Ellis and Bro. Mike Smith officiating. Burial
will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Raymond
Sebren, Carroll Endsley, Paul Kemp, Dwight Icenhower, Allen Hurst, Jerry
Davis, and Pat Tanner.
