- FERRING,
GAILBREATH posted by Don Dearing on Tuesday, August 12, 1997
- FERRING - GAILBREATH Wm. Antonio FERRING was born
in Milan, Italy, in 1823. He studied medicine at the Louisville
[KY] Medical School, and married Sarah Elizabeth GAILBREATH, 30
Oct 1845, in Jefferson Co., KY. He continued his study of
medicine at Tulane Univ., and then settled in Arkansas, ca 1857.
In the 1860 Census, the family was enumerated at Barfield P. O.,
Canadian Twp., in Mississippi Co. The family then included the
following children: Geo. L.; Thomas W.; Cybthia E.; Marianne C.;
Lucy S.; Sarah A.; and John M. William joined the Confederacy 4
Jul 1861, as a 2nd Lt. and served in Co. C, 18th [Marmadukes]
Reg't, Arkansas Inf., was later wounded, captured, and
imprisoned at Johnson Island, near Sandusky, OH. Still suffering
from his wounds, he returned home on crutches, and died as a
result thereof, 7 Sep 1872. Soon thereafter, his widow returned
to KY, with son John M. and daughter Sarah A. The rest of the
children, then of age, had married and remained in Arkansas. She
died in Jefferson Co., KY, 8 June 1898, leaving the 300 acre
Arkansas homestead to those children remaining there. I would
like to know were William A. FERRING may be buried and learn
more of those who continued to live there.

- BARKER, BLYTHE, HEPPLER posted by Robin Heppler on Thursday, September 11,
1997
- I am looking for the following information
on my paternal grandmother's family. Her name was Mary E. BLYTHE
HEPPLER. She was born in Kentucky 2/1888, married John Conrad
HEPPLER around 1909 and died 6/18/84 at the age of 96. I have
been told the following information from my family: Her father
was James F. BLYTHE who owned a lumber mill on the land where
Blythesville, AR is today in Mississippi County. His wife's
maiden name was BARKER (I think). They had 7 children (1 son -
Charlie [who married Pauline-had two sons Jim and Jeff] and 6
daughters Mary E., Effie, Rosemary, Rebecca[had a daughter named
Sarah Francis who married a man of the Mills family]but these
are all the names that I have been told). I thought that
President Clinton (since he is a BLYTHE) might be a relative.
Can you help with the BLYTHE or BARKER families?
