Little River News Aug 19 1937 REV E. T. DUMIS DIED MONDAY NIGHT The death angel claimed our beloved pastor and friend, Rev. E. T. Dumis, Monday night, August 8th, at his home at Geneva. Rev Dumis had been in ill health for the past seven months. But, he bore his suffering in patience, continuing on the work that he loved, "Preaching God's word". He filled next to his last appointment at Alleene. Bro. Dumis was 69 years of age, being born July 18, 1868. He was a member of the Baptist Church at Alleene and had spent the major part of his life as a Baptist Minister. Rev. Henry Miller conducted the funeral services. Wilkerson Funeral Home of DeQueen had charge of the burial which was in the Alleene Cemetery, Tuesday at 3 P.M. Active pallbearers were: Jim Nalley, Ben Staggs, Alvis Scott, Jim Emerson, Richard Stubbs and Sherman Heard of DeQueen. Honorary pallbearers were: C.W.Wright, Will Reed, J.W.Miller, O.L.Seastrunk and W.E. Edwards of Alleene. Rev. Dumis is survived by his wife, one stepson, Louis Caplinger of Geneva; three stepdaughters, Mrs Fannie Tapp of Winthrop, Mrs Addie Cowden of Horatio, Mrs Wright of Texarkana, and two brothers, J.W.Dumis of Broken Bow, Okla. and R.O.Dumis of Texarkana. In the passing of Bro. Dumis the community has lost a dear friend and counselor. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family. Mrs E.L.Young
