MOUNTAIN SPRINGS CEMETERY

(AKA NEW MOUNTAIN SPRINGS CEMETERY, OR

MOUNTAIN SPRINGS CHURCH CEMETRY)

COMPTON, NEWTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS

"Gone But Not Forgotten"

Original transcription done  Oct 26, 2008, by Rosa Cline

    COMPLETE TRANSCRIPTION

This is a COMPLETE listing of people interred at this cemetery.

I do have headstone photos of each person listed below,

I hope this listing helps these people to always be remembered. To try and help folks to always be remembered when they have gone on before us is the main reason I do what I do. And helping folks find family or friends in the process is a good plus as well.

To get to this cemetery you drive from the small town of Compton toward Ponca. When you see the signs to turn to the right to go to Osage turn right. Drive on this highway about 2-3 minutes and you will see a white church turn into the church parking lot and the cemetery is on the backside of the church.

There is another Mountain Springs Cemetery in Compton. That is the original run down cemetery. This cemetery is a new cemetery with just a handful of graves (when this transcription was done). So if you have been told someone has been buried at Mountain Springs in Compton then if the dates are 1800’s then they probably are in the original cemetery, if the dates are 2000 or newer then they are probably going to be in this new Mountain Springs cemetery.

My New Home

Don’t worry about me

For I have too soon gone home

I am with Jesus now

He said that I must come.

I have no tears and no strife

I feel no earthly pain

Heaven is surely what they said

It is the ultimate gain.

I met my Lord with outstretched arms

It’s so calm and peaceful here

Please don’t fret, my child, my friend

For soon we will be near.

I have left many friends and loved ones

I have traveled a road for this long

It may seem few, or little to some

But friend, my time has certainly come.

My wish is for you to remember me

Grandsons, just dry your tears

My wife, my son, my daughter, I love

There’s no need to fear.

God told me to tell you

I am just one moment away

You know that we can meet again

And Heaven is truly worth the wait.

God has a plan for each of us

Don’t wait too late to pray

I love each and every (rest was cut off)

Please join me (rest was cut off)

(This is transcribed from a photo of the poem my camera cut the last two lines off)
