Dillard Cemetery

Clinton Road, Faulkner County, Arkansas

I am not sure who I should contact about this, but I
have traveled to the Dillard Cemetery.  I don't see a
listing for it on the Faulkner Co. Genweb site, but it
is #96 in the Cemeteries of Faulkner Co Book published
in the 1980's.  It is NOT across from the AR Game and
Fish as listed in the cemetery book, but further down
Clinton Road. (I would be happy to give more specific
directions to the site, if needed.)  The cemetery is
completely overgrown and abandoned.  There are no
upright stones.  In fact, I would not have been able
to find it without the help of the older gentleman
living next door.  He tells me that the graves were
marked with large squarish field stones native to the
area.  They layed flat, just above the ground marking
each grave in what seemed to be a roughly 20'x 20'
area.  The only outwardly distinguishing feature is
that the cemetery itself is completely covered by
densely packed jonquils in the middle of a field that
was once a garden.  At some time in the past 20 years
"a woman" came and placed a granite marker with the
names of those buried there.  I was not able to find
evidence of the granite marker, but my kids and I were
able to find seven or eight stones large unmarked
stones just beneath the leaf litter.  This cemetery is
unmarked and will be soon lost if no one is interested
in reclaiming it from nature.  The Faulkner County
Cemetery book lists the following people buried there.

Hinty Dillard, W.H. Dillard, infant Meyers, Sarah and
William W. Parker and Frederick Ross. (buried in
1880's and 90's according to the book)

The man next door believed these people to all be
members of a family that lived in the house that once
stood nearby (on the present site of a church) and
they tragically died of pneumonia within several days
of each other.
