I am interested in some very early Arkansas Co. families, most were intermarried into the Chickasaw & Cherokee tribes: ALLEN, BACON, GRACE, LOVE, COLBERT, MOORE, MEAZELL, FOOY, CHRISTAIN, HENDERSON, and others. These families appear in other near areas as well, Chickasaw Bluffs (Memphis) TN, Marshall and Desoto Co's MS. and Phillips Co AR. The time period is from late 1700 thru period of removal as late as 1845. Will be glad to share what I have, more on some less on others. James L. GOREE 1819-1866 married Mary Elizabeth DIXON 1841 in Perry Co. AL. Moved to Arkansas Co. prior to 1860. Serching for information on Steven A. Douglas and Martha Ellison. Md. Cocke Co. Tennessee in 1880. Would like to find out when they came to Arkansas and what happened to their son, Sterling Douglas. I was told by family members, now deceased, that he was killed there in or near Dewitt. Time period would have been near or possibly earlier than 1920. There is no Death Certificate, and I am unable to locate any other information. Any help would be appreciated. Also, I have no access to Cemetery Records and need help on locating a record for George Pfaffenberger.
