I'm looking for information on Sarah Elizabeth SNELSON who married Jacob SNIDER. They were married in Ouachita Co. AR in 1875 then moved to Buckner before 1877. They had 7 children: Lawrence Arthur, Lee Monroe, Luell, Gladys, Lizzie May, Jewel, and Walter. Sarah "Aunt Sallie" and Jacob owned a boarding house/hotel in Buckner that burned down. Jacob died January 21, 1936 and Sarah died September 28, 1940 in Buckner. Other names associated with the family: BAKER, PIPKIN, PROCTOR, PATTERSON, and WILLIAMS. Thank you.

I am seeking information on Thomas QUIETT, b. May 22, 1829 in TN, and Nancy Ann BARKMAN, b. November 25, 1830 in AR. They were married in Arkansas Post, Arkansas County, on August 8, 1849. (Source: Arkansas County Marriage Records) They were living in Villepoint Township, Arkansas County in 1840. (Source: 1840 Arkansas Census) They had moved to Washington County by the time of the 1850 Census.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone with information on either the QUIETT (sometimes spelled with one t, and sometimes mis-spelled as Quilt, Quist, Quiell, etc.) or BARKMAN families.

One reference I have found states that the BARKMANs lived on Meto Bayou, but no other reference was made to the family. I hope someone out there can help me.

I am looking for any information you might have for Thomas, James, and John NEEDHAM who appear in the 1830 Federal Census in Arkansas Co. I believe they imigrated there around 1826 from Smith Co.,TN. Thomas was married to Nancy?. They emigrated to Johnson Co., IL by 1840; St. Francois Co., MO by 1850; then to Hardin Co., IL in 1860. I believe James also moved, but John may have stayed in Arkansas. Thank you.

(1) William Newton Burke abt. 1865. He was the son of John Burke.
Notes for Eliza ALLEN:
Conflicting dates of death some say she died in 1877 when son Harvey was born.
1. William Newton BURKE, born 1828 in Knoxville, Knox, TN; died 1906 in Cecil, Franklin, AR. He was the son of 2. John BURKE. He married (1)Unknown. He married (2) Eliza ALLEN abt. 1865.
Notes for William Newton Burke:
Married Eliza when he was 37 and she was 13. They came down MS river in a raft from TN and settled at Arkansas Post. Eliza died after 7 kids and Newton was married and had 4 more children with an unknown wife. Cemetery: Buried in Price Springs, AR.

I am searching for the deceased wife of Isaac POLLOCK. She died giving birth to Obediah D. POLLOCK in 1858 or 1859. I do not know her name but thought perhaps by using the husband's name or the child's name someone might recognize this family. In 1860 this family was back in Ripley, Tippah County, MS. I am looking for information on Caleb Richard FENTON. He was still living at the death of his daughter, Nora (FENTON) DUPREE, at Arkansas Post on 24 Aug 1894. Believe Caleb was living in the same area as his daughter. Caleb is listed in the 1870 Census at Old River Twp., Arkansas County, Arkansas. He was born 8 Nov 1828, in Andrain County, Mo.

My great grandfather, Joseph Cloud SWEARINGEN was born 30 Apr 1808, Washington Co PA, married Asenath PARKER 2 Aug 1832 in Washington Co PA and died 1855 Arkansas Co. AR. They had the following children: Ann SWEARINGEN b abt 1838; Sarah SWEARINGEN b abt 1840; Thomas SWEARINGEN b abt 1842; John C. SWEARINGEN b 11 Aug 1846 and Parker Joseph SWEARINGEN b 15 Jun 1849. All children were born in Washington Co. PA. Joseph Cloud SWEARINGEN was listed in Arkansas Co AR in the 1850 census. His wife and chidren were not with him. He is known to have owned a "wood yard" and store on the Arkansas River in Arkansas County and died there in 1855. No cemetery records have been found. Land records have been found. Are there records between 1850-1855 that I could search to find his wife and children in Arkansas Co AR?

I am interested in some very early Arkansas Co. families, most were intermarried into the Chickasaw & Cherokee tribes: ALLEN, BACON, GRACE, LOVE, COLBERT, MOORE, MEAZELL, FOOY, CHRISTAIN, HENDERSON, and others. These families appear in other near areas as well, Chickasaw Bluffs (Memphis) TN, Marshall and Desoto Co's MS. and Phillips Co AR. The time period is from late 1700 thru period of removal as late as 1845. Will be glad to share what I have, more on some less on others. Not all these people are my ancestors but all had something to do with them.

GOREE, a planter, moved many of his slaves to Texas for safe keeping during the Civil War. He died AR Co. 24 Dec 1866. Will exchange info on his family, or any other GOREE, white or black.
