Elcho's Mysterious Sallmann Brothers:
European Nobility? Family Heirloom Jewelry?

The brothers Otto and William Sallmann.
Please read this newspaper background article: "Still no answers to Elcho's man of mystery"

A Sallmann Family Tree on a German Website that seems to be Otto and William's Family?

The birth dates, ship arrival dates, and statement "Emigrated to Wisconsin" makes me think this is a match.

Questions that Still Need to be Answered.
1

What is the date of Otto's death? Where did he die? Where is he buried?

2

Were Otto and William born in Bad Muskau Germany but grew up near Frankfort?

3

Were Otto and William of noble birth or could they have been con men?
Being noble men and the communal life of the Amana Collonies and the dogma of the Pietism teachings doesn't seem to go together?

4

Was the jewelry really family heirlooms or the fruits of illegal activity?

5

Why and where did they disappear to around the 1885 time period?

6

What happened to the heirloom jewelry after Otto and William died?

7

What type of accident caused William's head injury?
Maybe an accident working on the railroad?

8

How did Otto first meet his future wife?
Could the letters with coat of arms have been love letters?

9

Otto and Flora marry in Berlin, Germany or on the ship voyage returning to America?

10

Why did Flora die at the young age of 35?
Maybe childbirth, appendicitis, flu, suicide or murder?

11

What is the connection the brothers had with Heidelberg University?
