Larry
&
Peggy Anderson, the original owners, left Vancouver in August of 1990
with
the
goal of
sailing past the Sydney Opera house in Sydney, Australia.
They achieved
that goal in April of 1995. Along the way they stopped in
California, Mexico
( 1 1/2 yrs), Marquesas, Tuamotus, Tahiti, Society Island chain,
American
Samoa, Western Samoa, Tonga and on to New Zealand. In 1993
they cruised
Fiji but returned to NZ for the summer. In May 1994, they
left for
Australia where they cruised until May 1995 when they returned to
NZ.
Until July 2000, IsaLei-Rua made her home base in Russell in the
beauitiful Bay
of Islands in northern NZ.
Leaving
IsaLei-Rua for the last time, April 2000
On the 28th of
April, 2000, she was sold to
Bob
& Jacquie Donovan of Australia and the vessel's documentation
was changed
from Canadian to Australian with a home port of Fremantle, Western
Australia.
Bob
&
Jacquie sailed IsaLei-Rua from New Zealand to Fremantle Australia via
Cairns
and Darwin in company of a professional skipper and arrived there in
November
2000. In 2004, they set out for Tasmania and stayed there for about a
year. During July 2006, they sailed north up the
Queensland coast headed for Papua New Guinea and in September
& October, 2006 they cruised the Louisiades. In
November
2006, they returned to Queensland to put IsaLei-Rua on
the market after Christmas. She was sold in January 2007.
The proud new owners of Isalei-Rua are Arie & Lenie Smit of
Redland Bay, Queensland, who are hoping to have lots of good sails and
fun.
