Shook Family History My earliest known Shook ancestor is my third great grandfather, Jefferson Shook, who was born 11 July 1802 and died 28 June 1875. His place of birth is not known by me except for what was reported in census records; some records say Pennsylvania and others say Maryland. His place of death was Marion, Grant, Indiana, but his burial site has not been located. Jefferson first married Sophia Brown on 18 January 1825 in Frederick County, Maryland and it is presumed that she died without issue. He then married Mary Winbigler on 29 May 1827 in Frederick County. By the 1840 census he removed to Union, Miami, Ohio and then by 1850 to York, Darke, Ohio where he remained until, presumably, shortly before his death in 1875; however, I have no proof of his death date.
