John Martin Dombhart born July 28, 1889 in Washington D. C..
Mr. Dombhart moved to Walker County in 1929. Mr. Dombhart's
passion for the 'hobby' of "collecting historical data on the
county" lead him to spend three years writing a book and compiling
information on it's towns and it's people: History of Walker County
Alabama.
He begins his chapters explaining the history of the
county, it's creation, rise, and times, he describes Walker County
and the War between the states as well as the railroads and World
War I and the Depression. In part two, he writes about the
towns in the county and in part three includes the early settlers.
Mr. Dombhart married Vera Kitchens. He died on December 26, 1952 and
is buried at Gray Cemetery in Parrish, Walker County, Alabama.
