The Carl Elliott House

The Carl Elliott House Museum, a new museum honoring Alabama Congressman Carl Elliott (1913-1999), held its official public opening on July 12. The house museum, located at 1700 Birmingham Avenue , Jasper, Alabama, is owned and operated by Bevill State Community College.

Open Tuesday-Friday 8:30am-3pm; Saturday 10am-2pm. Summer hours 8:30am -1:00pm.
Handicapped accessible.

The Alabama Mining Museum, designated by the State Legislature as the official State Coal Mining Museum, focuses primarily on mining from 1890 to 1940 when mining became an important industrial force in the United States. The Museum tells the technological, social, and human stories involved in Alabama's development into one of the most important coal mining regions in the United States. Special program includes a day at Wyatt Elementary School on the museum grounds.
