Walker County's New Temple of Justice Burned
Last night the fire-fiend invoked by some
inhuman fiend in human shape, again visited Jasper and nothing now
remains of Walker County's magnificent new court house but blackened
walls. About 3 o'clock this morning the courthouse was discovered to
be on fire in the jury room temporarily occupied as the Circuit
Clerk's office and in one short hour Walker was again without a
courthouse - and this time all her circuit court records and files
burned. The Record books were, perhaps all, saved; the files and
papers for record, together with private papers of Judge Gamble and
Mr. W. S. Foster, besides a large amount of funds, over #1,000
belonging to Judge Gamble, were burned.... This is the third
courthouse that Walker has lost by fire within the past nine years.
