Thomas Herbison emigrated from Scotland to the USA some time between
1881-1891. He was in several different places early on but I know that he
was in Dora Alabama from at least 1912. He married Elizabeth and they had a
daughter Blanche (born about 1918). I have several letters written by both
Thomas and his young daughter Blanche to my great-grandmother back in
Scotland. In the late 1920s and early 1930s, Thomas was farming some land
near Dora and was having a hard time making ends meet in the Depression. The
only address given on the letters was Post Office box number 92, Dora,
Alabama.
I would love to find out what became of Thomas, Elizabeth and Blanche. If
you recognize anyone above, or if you have any ideas of how to research this
further, I would be very grateful.

Can anyone please tell me where Precinct 13 is in the 1930 census?
That is
all that is on the 1930 census page - Precinct 13, Walker County, AL. He
is
a coal miner and lived previously in Dora, so is this still Dora?
Are there any directories for this area from 1930 on? How would I access
these records?
Where would I find death records for this area ca 1935-45?
Thank you very much for any assistance/guidance you can give me
