 Phifer Cemetery

Phifer Cemetery was located 3/4 mile south of Gilgal Baptist Church at T22S R9W S16 (estimated) off of Bear Creek Road.  Sources say this cemetery was destroyed by a landowner clearing an area for a house.  This cemetery held many graves including Civil War veterans who are all now lost.  In Beasey Hendrix Jr.'s book he gives a listing which we will use below.

PHIFER GRAVEYARD - Old Bush Place
3/4 miles south of Gilgal Baptist Church, left of road (said to have been destroyed later)

1. James Phifer, December 24, 1817 - April 11, 1866 (was murdered in his home and blood stains remained on floor)
2. Our Little Jemmie, age 11 days
3. James P., son of Jas. and B.H. Phifer, October 14, 1852 - Jan. 3, 1853
