SMITH Looking for any information about Cyrus Clinton Smith. 1870 Census lists a Cyrus Smith for this county. Would anyone happen to know if this is the same Cyrus that married Julia Francis Finerty March 7, 1875. in Morgan Co. AL. They had a boy, Walter Clinton Smith (April 25, 1878) in Morgan Co. I can't find Cyrus listed in the Morgan Co. census, which leads me to believe he wasn't from there. Cyrus believed to have had several brothers (including one possibly named Henry) and at least two sisters. Nothing else known about my g-g-grandpa except for a long-yarn of a family folktale that Cyrus' parents were rich plantation owners with more slaves than anyone else in the area.

STEWART, HAND John P b-1835 GA, and Sarah (HAND) STEWART Moved from GA to Alabama and had children here. Dates in AL between 1855 and 1873 as they then moved to AR. PLEASE HELP, I can not seem to find where they lived in AL. John P STEWART was in the 34th Alabama Infantry Regiment , Histories of Alabama Infantry Regiments: The 34th Alabama Infantry was organized at Loachapoka on 15 April 1862, with companies recruited from Montgomery and the counties of Coosa, Russell, and Tallapoosa. It was sent to Tupelo, MS, and was placed with the 24th and 28th Alabama regiments, and two South Carolina regiments, in Gen'l Arthur M. Manigault's Brigade, Gen'l Jones M. Wither's Division. The regiment moved into Kentucky but was not in action during the campaign. It was with the main Army of Tennessee when it fought at Murfreesboro, and it sustained heavy casualties (11 k, 77 w). The remainder of the winter was spent near Tullahoma, and the regiment then withdrew with the army to the Chattanooga area. At Chickamauga, the 34th again lost heavily, and at Missionary Ridge, a large number were captured. The regiment, numbering 388 men and 281 arms, wintered and recruited for the campaigning of 1864 at Dalton and began the "Hundred Days' Battle" in the spring. From Dalton to Atlanta, the 34th shared fully in the operations of the Army of Tennessee. It lost heavily in the battles of 22 and 28 July, at Atlanta. At Jonesboro, casualties were light. At the Battle of Franklin, the 34th escaped the severest part of the fighting, but at Nashville, the remainder of the unit was nearly decimated. With the wreck of the Army, the regiment passed into the Carolinas where it skirmished at Kinston and again at Bentonville. Ultimately consolidated with the 24th and 28th regiments, about 100 of the original 1,000 members of the regiment were surrendered at High Point, North Carolina, 26 April 1865. More tips below: John was to have been a doctor and lived Lexington,AR and his brother's ; James and Church(Nickname?) lived in Lone Rock, AR and one was a preacher. William Robert Emett BOWEN, bn. 29 May 1846 probably in Muscogee County, Georgia to William BOWEN/BOREN and Louisa HAWS, was suppose to have died 12 May 1862 as a soldier in the CSA army. Some say he died of Pneumonia. All of this is hearsay. I have been looking for some time for a record of him in any Civil War record I can find. He was probably living in Russell County, Alabama at the start of the Civil War. The 1850 Census of Barbour County, Alabama gives his name as Emmet BOREN, age 6 (which would mean he was born in abt 1844). The 1860 Census of Russell County, Alabama gives his name as William R. BOEN, age either 14 0r 16. I'm looking for someone who can help me locate William.

I am searching for information about my great- great grandparents, Robert HOLLOWAY and ? CHAPPELL. I have no information about their ages, marriage date, or dates of death. Only known information is that they had 2 sons born in Russell County. Robert Gilliam HOLLOWAY was born 16 Feb 1859 died 16 may 1926 in Weatherford, Parker County, Texas. Second son, James Madison HOLLOWAY was born 31 May 1863 died 3 Nov 1946 in Macon, Georgia. It is possible that Robert HOLLOWAY could have been in the Civil War, based the fact that there are no known births during the years of 1860, 61, 62. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
