Henry McCrary Storey was one of the early settlers of Pickens County, AL. He was born March 29, 1793 in the Fairforest area, Spartanburg, SC. to his parents, Henry and Elizabeth Cunningham Storey. His Father, Henry, was a Revolutionary War Veteran who resided from 1820 in nearby Greene County, AL.

Henry McCrary Storey married Jane Morrow (b-March 19, 1796), daughter of Samuel and Janet Nelson Morrow, on April 17, 1817, in the Spartanburg District, SC. They had nine children; Elizabeth, Louise, Samuel, Sarah, Robert Newton, Mary Ann, Henry Wilson, Marinda and Artimissa Caroline Storey. It is believed that Henry McCrary and Jane Storey came with his parents, Henry and Elizabeth Storey, to Greene County, AL. in October 1820. After a short period, Henry McCrary and Jane Storey moved to nearby Pickens County, AL. and settled near Magby Creek, Henry Beat, Pickens County, which is near the AL-MS line. Official property records revealed that he bought 440 acres of land ( T18-R16 ) on July 20, 1822 and 160 acres ( T18-R17 ) on June 5, 1836. Henry McCrary Storey was a farmer and tanner.

He was a charter member of the Beersheba Presbyterian Church just across the AL-MS line in Lowndes County, MS. Henry McCrary Storey died March 29, 1874 and his wife Jane died June 11, 1888. They are buried in the historic Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Church cemetery in Lowndes County, MS. next to their Granddaughter, Sarah J. Pridmore Wright. Sarah was born September 20, 1853, married Elias Garner Wright February 2, 1871 and died of Typhoid fever on July 23, 1872. They had one child, Ruebin Hollis Wright (b-25 November 1871). Elias Garner Wright then married Marinda Storey, Henry M. and Jane Storey's daughter and Sarah's aunt. They had two sons, Joseph Frank Wright (b-March 7, 1875) and Luther Edward Wright (b-23 September 1879).
