James Hiram Rachels, son of Bryant Rachels of Bells Landing.  He was 20 when this picture was taken in 1860.

James Hiram Rachels and wife Ann Wiggins lived in the Red Hills area; both are buried in the Red Hills Cemetery. James Hiram Rachels fought in the Civil War in the 62 Inf. Co. H and they fought in the battle of Blakely and Mobile bay Fort Gaines. He has on his shirt the Southern Cross of honor The one in the bottom is a copy of one!  James Hiram Rachels was a twin and his brother was George W. Rachels.

George W. Rachels, twin brother of James Hiram Rachels. He is buried in Red Hills Cemetery.  He lived in that area and was a member of tje Red Hills Church. picture taken 1930.
