"James M. Black Family – This old home is approximately 150 years old. Located in Monroe County, it was the former home of James Monroe Black and is now occupied by Mattie Mae Black Helton. The home was enlarged in the early 1900’s. Shown in the picture are children, Thomas Andy Black, Mattie Mae Black Helton (widow of Shirley B. Helton), Lizzie Kate Black Helton (wife of Randall McDonald Helton), and William Neal Black. The parents are James Monroe Black, son of Neil Black and Sarah Ivey, and Martha (Mattie) Elizabeth Davison, daughter of William Miller Davison and Missouri Powell Davison. The man with the horse is William Robert Black, the only brother of James Monroe Black."
