Lowndes County Heritage Book Committee
P. O. Box 1043
Hayneville, AL 36040Jean Peck is the committee chairperson. At this time, the book is in the final stages of getting the information to the publisher. Predominately, only one person has been working on this book with help from others periodically. That along with the fact that there were not enough submissions from descendents is making the publication fo the book take longer than anticipated. However, papers are now being sent to the publisher and more are being readied each week. The publisher will put this all together and send it back for proofreading. Once that is completed, the book will be published We are sorry about the delay but hope to 'get this out of our hair' very, very soon. When a publish date is known it will be posted here.
Lowndesboro Heritage Society
The Lowndesboro Heritage Society has published a book called "Lowndesboro's Picturesque Legacies." It is a most interesting book with pictures and stories about the people, homes, and churches in Lowndesboro' history. A bit of the history of Lowndesboro is told as are histories of some of her notable citizens. Also included is a map where the homes were located at the time the book was published. The book is $12 plus shipping and handling. Soon, the Heritage Society will be letting me know the total cost and where to send for this fascinating book. Look back here soon for that information.
