Monumental Inscriptions of Kintail & Lochalsh, Scotland and Genealogy

Plockton

Plockton village is situated on the sheltered bay of a peninsular of the West Coast of the Scottish Highlands. This sheltered possition allows the unusual tree ferns for which Plockton is know to flourish. The grave yard at Plockton surrounds the Church of Scotland and is situated on the main street as you enter the village. This church is now also used for worship by the free Church congregation. The inscribed grave markers date from 1834, to the most recent 1975. The church community undertook a serious clean-up of the graveyard during the summer of 2009 which made locating all the stones much easier. Therefore it was in 2009 that the photographs were collected. Transcripts were made and checked on repeated visits. The alpgabetical name list page was then created. I hope you will find these pages helpful as you trace your family.
