RUFUS BERRYMAN June 1st. 1897
APPLICATION For SOLDIERS OR SAILORS.
 
FOR THE RELIEF OF NEEDY CONFEDERATE S0LDIERS AND SAILORS, RESIDENTS OF ALABAMA, WHO FROM WOUNDS 
OR OTHER CAUSE, ARE NOW UNABLE TO EARN A LIVELIHOOD BY LABOR, UNDER ACT APPROVED FEBRUARY 13th, 1891, 
( H. B. 969 ), AND AS AMENDED FEBRUARY 18th, 1895 ( S. B. 825 )

Before me J. C. KUMPE, JUDGE OF PROBATE
in and for said County, in said State, personally appeared,
____RUFUS BERRYMAN_____, Who being duly sworn, deposes and says:
That, while in the military or naval service of this State, or Confederate States,
he was a private in company____Caps. Lynders___of Warrens Balation of confederate Calvery and, 
that he did not desert the service of this State, or Confederate States; 
That while in the discharge of his duties as such, on the 24 day of Sept._____1864______________
at Athens, in the State of Alabama
He was wounded in the right thigh braking the bone and, in consequence of such loss of limb, 
wound or wounds; sickness or old age, he is physically
unable to earn a livelihood by labor:
That he was, on the 13th day of February, 1891, and is now, a resident of Alabama, and that his 
post office address is________Hatton Alabama
That he is engaged in the business of______Farming 
That his taxable property consists of______1 horse and 80 acres of Land, and not worth in the 
aggregate more than Five Hundred Dollars:
That his salary or gross income does not amount to Five Hundred Dollars per year; and that his 
wife does not own a separate estate of more than Five Hundred Dollars.
And he hereby makes application for relief under said Act.
