Tucker/Welborn Jan. 2007
I am seeking information about my grandmother, Josie Tucker  (Welborn) and her ancestors.   She was born 23 August 1877 and died 17 July 1907.  She is buried at Cheatham Cemetery in Lawrence County.   She married Luther Welborn, probably in Lawrence County, Alabama.  The children from this marriage were:   Ed Welborn, Peralie Welborn (Waits), Bert Welborn (Craig) and Fred Welborn.   Fred Welborn is my father.   Family history is that Josie was a Cherokee Indian.   Please contact me if you know anything about my grandmother.

Meadows/Meaders/Fletcher July 2007
I am desperately trying to find the obituary of a Mrs. Martha J. Meadows/Meaders, nee Fletcher, who died on 14 Sept.1884 at age 29.  She is buried in the Cheatham cemetery.  I don't know how she died, and believe her to be the first wife of my great-great grandfather Henry Sanford Meadows/Meadors.  They had four children, Nancy, Cintha/Cynthia, John, and Sidney, between 1876 and 1882.  No trace of the children can be found, and Henry Sanford Meadows married Mary E. Harris the month after Martha J. Fletcher died.  I am trying to find out what happened to his other family! Sarah Meadow

HAWKINS July 2007
Can anyone verify that I am making the right connection that Anna Hawkins the daughter of William Hawkins and Delia A. J. Allred is the Anna that is the wife of  Lewis or Louis Allred son of Issac Allred and Sarah Baugh. Lewis or Louis Allred and his Anna or Anner lived next to William Hawkins and Delia on the 1910 census and I would like to know if my deduction is right.

BROOKS July 2007
I am searching for any signs of a family.  George Whitfield Brooks was my husband’s great-grandfather.  He was one of the only survivors of Shackelford’s Red Rovers who died in Texas in the battle against Mexico.  At the time of the battle in 1836 he was only 11 years old.  His brother Zachariah also fought in that battle.  If Shackelford raised the Red Rovers from Courtland, Alabama, it stands to reason to me that Brooks’ family was also from Courtland, so I’ve been looking and looking at cemetery records for ANY Brooks families that are of sufficient age to have been George Whitfield’s parents.  They may have followed him to Texas (where he and Zachariah both lived out their lives), but I thought that some of the family might have remained in Courtland.  Are there any OTHER cemeteries than the ones on this web site that I could search?  Thank you.
