According to the 1860 census L.P. Landers had real estate valued
at $600 and personal estate valued at $1000.

for NANCY ELKINS:
Nancy Elkins Landers is probably the daughter of Thomas Elkins
and Nancy Pope Elkins. Two Elkins brothers, Joseph and Thomas
came to AL from GA around 1816-17, first settling at Hazel Green
in Madison Co. Then moving to Lawrence Co. around 1820. Thomas
lived between Old Town Creek Church and what is now Hickory Grove
Presb. Church (just South of Old Town Creek.) We are not sure of
the exact location of Joseph's property but his son lived near
the Lawrence Winston County line at Kinlock (inwhat is now the
Bankhead Forest.) Nancy is one of their daughters and probably
Thomas's since Joseph had a daughter Nancy who never married.
