Seeking to share info on the NESMITH families of Lawrence Co., AL.
They seemed to have arrived in the late 1700's or early 1800's and spread
to Lawrence and Morgan Co. There are many links with common names being
Thomas, William and Alexander - but I would love to hear from anyone associated
with the NESMITH surname.

I am trying to find information on Wiliam Hazlewood and Priscilla Powell.
I have been unable to locate their marriage record in early Lawrence Co.
records, so perhaps they were married, possibly in North Carolina, before
coming to Alabama or to Lawrence Co. before 1820-1825. Their daughter,
Mary Jane Hazlewood, was born in Town Creek about 11 September 1828. His
second wife was Nancy Leigh, whom he married on 30 November 1835 in Lawrence
Co. Later he, his 2nd wife, and children by both marriages moved to Amite
Co., MS before 1846. Other Hazlewoods had to have remained in Town Creek
for the school to have been named after him. Does anyone have information
on where either these Hazlewood or Powell families were from?
