According to an uncle, my g-grandfather, John Wesley Allen, Sr., is buried at Newberg. I should like a list of the cemeteries in and or near Newberg, including Waco as I'm sure some of the Allens are buried there. If this request is beyond your responsibilities, I will understand because it could become a big project.

I am looking for info about a Richard Benton Harris. R.B. Harris as he was sometimes know as was the son of Henry Claiborne Harris and Jane Beersheba Friday.Principly he was from Marion County, but his daughter told me that he taught school in the Hodges area, and that later he either owned or operated a store in Hodges.
The time period is a little fuzzy to me. All I have to go on is his two marriage dates. His first marriage took place in 1906 to Maude Ford. I know that he was teaching school during this time, and perhaps even before. At some point he also quit teaching for a more lucrative trade of making and selling whiskey. He served some time in a prison in Altlanta according to his daughter, my grandmother.
R.B. Harris and Maude Ford had two children after 1906, Janice & Dick, and some time before 1926 Maude died during the birth of their third child, as did the child.
In 1926, R.B. Harris married a second time to Minnie Ree Avery, and as far as I know, he lived in the Hamilton area of Marion County.
I was wondering if anyone connected with Franklin County might know where to get school record for the 1890's to 1920's which might list R.B.HARRIS as a teacher and where. Perhaps someone might even have a class or school picture with him in it?
Also would there be anyway to find out what store in Hodges he may have owned or worked at?

Do you have any information on John Robinson and Mary Sanford Robinson? They are my great-grandfather and great-grandmother. They came to Russellville from Cedartown, Polk County, GA (I do not know what year) but my grandmother Mary Virginia Belle Zora Ellen Catherine Robinson (I give her full name because some people called the different names, I always knew her as Belle Zora. She was born in 1865 in Russellville. She had a brother named George Allen Robinson who had a son Tom Robinson who was hanged for murdering his wife and her mother. He wrote a book about it called "Tom Robinson's Last Days" (a very sad book but enlightening). There was a sister Annie (sister of George and Belle Zora) and others. I know that Annie married a McNatt and moved to Tishomingo, MS. My grandfather and grandmother Buchanan (Belle Zora Robinson) were married in 1888 in Tishomingo. I do not know what happened to John and Mary Robinson. Have no information on their ancestors. Thank you for any information you might give me.

She had older brothers and a younger sister. They eventually moved to Tishomingo County, MS where Belle Zora married grandfather Robert Washington Buchanan in 1888. John and Mary Robinson had a grandson (child of George Allen Robinson) who is buried in McRight Cemetery and I would love to know where this is and how to get there. John and Mary Robinson came to Franklin County from Cedartown, Polk County, GA which was not even incorporated until 1854. They were married in Cedartown but I don't know when or where. Have been quite unsuccessful with this line until the marriage to my grandfather Buchanan. Please help me if you can. Thank you. Joan Buchanan West

My Great Great Grandfather Williams J. Ledbetter served in the 4th Alabama Cavalry in the War Between the States.
Williams J. Ledbetter (b. 20 February 1825 near Luttz, Tennessee, d. 12 February 1904 in Burleson, Alabama) was a private in Company L of the 4th Regiment of Alabama Volunteers, in the military service of the Confederate States. On April 30, 1863 at the battle of Days Gap, near Cullman, Alabama, Mr. Ledbetter was shot through the head resulting in the loss of sight in both eyes.
There were several Ledbetter families living in Franklin County, Alabama in the 1850 to 1970 period. Williams J. Ledbetter's family is listed in the 1850, 1860 & 1870 US census for Franklin County. In fact there are still quite a few Ledbetters living in this area.
Thanks,
Dick Ledbetter

I am working on very little information. My grandmother MinnieSMITH was married in St Francis Co Arkansas April 3 1881. Her wedding certificate shows that she was born May 1863 in Alabama. The 1900 census shows that her father was born in Alabama and her mother in Ga. That is all the firm data that I have to go on the rest is family story that I have not been able to verify. According to my father, his mother Minnie was brought up on a river boat that her father owned and operated on the St Francis River in Akansas (this is probably why I can find no census records either in 1870 or 1880, they were probably never counted due to their gypsy lifestyle) Capt SMITH was supposedly a full blood Cherokee from Alabama. His wife was white from Ga. At the time of the civil war their river boat was sunk by the yankees so Capt took his wife back to family home in Alabama while he joined Confederate Army. Minnie was born in her grandparents home. I have no idea where that was and the worse part is that I have no record of given names of her parents. She died in Dallas TX 6 months before Texas started keeping death records. What I'm hoping for is some indication of a Cherokee family named SMITH that was in Alabama at least from about 1830-1870 and find out which county to look for birth records of Minnie or for someone that may know something of my riverboat capt.
