The information above is supposed to be from the Bible that belonged to John W. MELTON.  I copied it just as it was written in the Bible — Emmer should be Emma; Luer, I think, is supposed to be Lara/Laura; Monro is Monroe; Sallee is Sallie; and I believe Mattis is supposed to be Mattie.  There are probably variations in the dates between the other Bibles shown below.

Transcriber's Notes:

William Henry Harris (or Harrison) MELTON was the son of John W. MELTON and Elizabeth FLURRY.  All three were buried at Siloam Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Fayette County.

Bettie (TERRELL) MELTON was the first wife of William H. Melton; gravesite unknown.  They had five children:

Mollie Viola MELTON was buried at Old Pisgah Cemetery, Walker Co, Carbon Hill, AL.  She and her husband, R. Claude GANN, had three children: Audrey, Haddon and Wayland GANN.

Emma Mattie MELTON was buried at Old Pisgah Cemetery in Walker County.

Henry Wiley MELTON never married.  He served as an Alabama private in U.S. Army in WWI.  He left Alabama at the age of 29 on December 15, 1917.  He had to be put in a hospital in Marion, Indiana, where he later died; buried at Siloam Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

My Dad, Carl Delmar MELTON, was married twice.  He and his first wife, Rosa Belle JONES, never had children.  After Rosa died, he married my Mom, Hazel Quinn SMITH.  Carl and Rosa were buried at Siloam Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

John D. Henry Harry Terrell MELTON and Flora SMITH were the parents of Ottis, Eugene, Juanita and Dexter MELTON.  John was buried at Center Cemetery, Winfield, AL.

Sallie CONNER, the second wife of William H. MELTON, was the mother of Kirk, Edgar, William and Wendell MELTON.
