LEARY, Dempsey C. (Corporal, Company E, 6t^h Alabama Infantry Regiment) Buried at Rosemere Cemetery, Opelika, Lee County, Alabama
LEDBETTER, William (Private, Company E, 31^st Alabama Infantry Regiment) Enlisted at Talladega Alabama on the April 10,1862. He was captured, then paroled at Vicksburg, July 9, 1863. He was in Wayside Hospital, Demopolis, Alabama, on October 17, 1863. Then he was captured at Resaca, May 16, 1864. He was received at the US Army General Hospital at Chattanooga with a lacerated wound of the head caused by a shell (hit his right eye) from the May 15th battle at Resaca. He was sent to Camp Douglas and discharged from there on June 13, 1865. He was 27 in 1864. William T. Ledbetter applied for his CSA pension on July 30, 1885. He was a private in Company E of the 31st Regiment of Alabama Volunteers. He was wounded, while in the discharge of his duty on the 15th Day of May 1864 at Resaca in the State of Georgia, in consequence of which wound he received such wound in such service as renders him physically incapable of making a livelihood by labor, that he was a resident of the State of Alabama on the 17th day of February 1885, that he is now a resident of Precinct No. 14 in Calhoun county, and State of Alabama and is at present engaged in business as a farmer; that he does not own in his own name, nor does his wife own, two thousand dollars worth of property, after deducting the amount of all encumbrances thereon; and that he is entitled to relief under the act Providing for the Relief of Soldiers Maimed or Disabled during the late war, approved February 17, 1885. William T. Ledbetter made his mark (due to total blindness) on July 30, 1885. My grandmother told me that he was left on the battlefield for dead and when they came back for the bodies several days later they discovered he was still alive. His eye was severely infected so he lost that eye and the infection spread to his other eye which eventually blinded him completely. Source: Judith Massey
LEE, C. A. (Corporal, Company H, 15^th Alabama Infantry Regiment) Moved from Dale County Alabama to Jackson County, Florida in 1883 at age 43; Applied for Florida Pension at age 68 (A03702, LEE, Cader A., Alabama, Theodosia (Windham), Jackson Co, 1906, 17 pgs) Drew his pension in Jackson County until he died at age 70. LEE, George W. (Private, Company C, 37^th Alabama Infantry Regiment) born October 30, 1844 - died May 6, 1908 and buried Elizabeth Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, McKenzie, Butler County Alabama marked with a UDC Iron Marker. George was the youngest son of William Greenberry LEE and Martha Jane (Pat) Taylor the daughter of Richard and Martha Taylor. George married 1st on February 15,1864 to Rhoda Anne Elizabeth Mitchell [birth and death unknown] and married 2nd to Rebecca L. HOWELL February 17, 1864- Died 1900 the daughter of Joseph HOWELL. Grandpa lost his right arm in a skirmish days before the Siege of Vicksburg, Mississippi and received a pension for his service. He served with his 3 brothers in The War Between The States. He was ordained a Primitive Baptist Minister in November 1871 serving churches in Butler, Covington, Crenshaw and Conecuh counties. He was clerk of the Antioch Primitive Baptist Association for 30 years. George W. Lee founded 3 churches which are still going strong today, he was a pastor of the church where he is buried, Elizabeth Primitive Baptist Church for 30 years. He was also tax collector of Butler County, state legislator and fathered 14 children. Source: Odessa Higdon-Crenshaw

LEE, Timothy Cuthbert II, (Private, Company H, 15^th Alabama Infantry Regiment/ Private, Company C, 11th Florida Infantry Regiment) Timothy was born April 2, 1843 in Alabama - died May 4, 1918, in Houston County, Alabama. Buried at Jellico Community Cemetery, near Dothan, in Houston County, Alabama the son of Tobias Lee and Elizabeth Severance. Married on December 22, 1863, in Dale County, Alabama, to Sarah A. E. Dowling, born May 7, 1845 in Dale County, Alabama died March 4, 1915 in Houston County, Alabama. Buried beside her husband at Jellico Community Cemetery, near Dothan, in Houston County, Alabama Daughter of James Dowling and Nancy Martin. Known children were Lurey Virginia Lee (m. William Jackson Reynolds), Dora Udoxie Lee (m. Alford L. Jones), Robert (Bob) Alexander Lee (m. and divorced from Genora Weed), Nancy Elizabeth (Lizzie) Lee (m. William E. Fowler), Charlie Cuthbert Lee (m. 1st Ola Hollis, m. 2nd name unknown), Callie Lee (m. Lavignor Willie Warren), Ella Clyde Lee (m. John Bryant Tom Fowler), Lucy Lee (m. James Tance Fowler), James Harvey Lee (m. Freddie Scarborough) and Marvin/Martin Lee (unconfirmed/died in childhood). Except for the unconfirmed Marvin/Martin Lee, all Timothy Cuthbert Lee II's children are buried in the Jellico Community Cemetery, in Houston County, Alabama. LINDSAY, John William (Private, Company H, 1^st Alabama Volunteer Regiment Vidette Cavalry, US) Born January 24, 1825 near French Broad River, Sevier County, Tennessee - d. October 31, 1914 and buried at McBride Cemetery in Laclede County Missouri) believed to be the son of James M Lindsay and Unknown Pate. John married August 3, 1846 in Coosa County Alabama to Susan Caroline Shelton (b. August 25, 1830 in Coosa County Alabama – d. June 7, 1908 and buried at McBride Cemetery in Laclede County Missouri) Children are: 1) James P. Lindsay (b. August 26, 1847 – d. April 3, 1927); 2) Hugh {Bud} Lawson Lindsay (b. November 7, 1848 – November 9, 1921) was a messenger boy for John in the civil war; 3) William J. Lindsay (b. December 20, 1850 – d. April 1936); 4) H. LITTLETON, Isaac (Private, Company C, 25^th Alabama Infantry Regiment “Shelby Confederates) Enlisted at Fort Gaines, Alabama, September 7, 1861. Absent on fifteen day sick furlough since December 26, 1861. Reported on June 1862 roll as deserting on April 4, 1862 with residence given as Lower Yellow Leaf, Shelby County, Alabama. Paroled at Montgomery, Alabama, June 5, 1865. Description: fair complexion, gray eyes, red hair, five feet six inches tall. Born in Shelby County, Alabama, December 25, 1837. Married Rina Welden, February 21, 1867. Died May 27, 1912. Buried in Cane Creek Baptist Cemetery, Chilton County, Alabama.

LOVE, William Harkey (3rd Corporal, Company C, 28^th Alabama Infantry Regiment) Enlisted February 6, 1862 at Murphree's Crossroads; was captured August 19, 1864 at Bear Creek Station, GA; entered Camp Chase POW Station September 3, 1864, released June 14, 1865. He was the son of Samuel Tyre Dor Love (b. 1803, Chester Co., SC) and Eleanor Waldrop (b. 1803, Chester Co., SC), and was born July 5, 1831, died October 4, 1907, Blount Co., AL, He waa a Methodist minister and pastor of Love's Chapel, Cullman Co., AL.
