(name of mother unknown).  Married on August 9, 1870, in Pike County, Alabama, to Margarette Isabelle Fletcher Hooks, born April 7, 1853 in Alabama died July 24, 1922, in Pike County, Alabama the daughter of George Hooks and Matilda Sessions.  Buried beside her husband. at Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near the Needmore Community of Pike County, Alabama. Known children were Matilda Johns(t)on (m. J. E. B. Hattaway), James Thomas Johns(t)on (m. 1st Ella Harris, 2nd Vallie Gunter), Minnie Johns(t)on (m. Calvin Poole), Mary L. George Washington (Private, Company “C” 35th Alabama Infantry Regiment) George was born about 1834 in Lawrence County, Alabama – died 1904 and buried at Anthony Cemetery, Giles County. Tennessee. I am not sure who his parents are at this time. He married 1st 1859  at Moulton, Lawrence County, Alabama to Mary Jane Long. They were the parents of 3 or 4  Daughters, one was Laura, born in 1861, married a  Darius Clark. the other daughters are not known at this time. After end of war, George and Mary Jane divorced and  in he married 2nd 1870 in Athens, Limestone County, Alabama to Mary Ann Pinson Brown. Between 1870 and 1880, George and Mary Ann relocated to Giles County, Tennessee. They are the parents of 4 boys and 1 girl. 1) Allen M. Jones (b. 1871  left for Texas, about 1900 lost track of him); 2) Jearrie P.  Jones (b.1872  left for Texas about 1900 lost track of him); 3) Mary Tennessee Jones (b. 1874 – d. October 1882 and buried Anthony Cemetery, Giles County, Tennessee); 4) George Pinson Jones (b. 1866 – d. March 1949 and buried Lynnwood Cemetery, Lynnville, Giles County, Tennessee). George Pinson married 1st to Nola Callahan (b. 1872 in Alabama – d. 1906 and buried in Giles County, Tennessee); He married 2nd to Myrtle Pinkleton (b.1898 and buried in Deerfield Beach Florida); Married 3rd to Pearl Ward (b.1902 – d. 1947 and Buried Lynnwood Cemetery, Lynnville, Giles County, Tennessee); 5) James Daniel Jones (b.1878 – d. 1957 and buried  New Zion Cemetery, Giles County, Tennessee) James married Sarah Anna Callahan (b.1881 in Alabama – d. in Tennessee and buried in New Zion Cemetery, Giles County, Tennessee). George Washington Jones married 3rd  August 1883 in Pulaski, Giles County, Tennessee to Virginia Ann Jones. No children were born of this union. June 30,1904, Local Newspaper; Body Recovered; The body of George Jones who was drowned in Richland Creek near the Atchison farm Wednesday morning of last week, was recovered about 2:00 that afternoon 40 to 50 yards from were his fish nets were. As he was a good swimmer, the cause of his drowning in a matter of conjecture but is supposed he cramped or became tangled in some of the remnants of barbed wire fencing which is found in nearly every creek in the county and especially in Richland. Mr. Jones was an Ex-confederate and a pensioner, having received his first pension money in December. He survived by his wife and two sons. The burial occurred Thursday at the Anthony Graveyard..  Enlisted at Lagrange, Alabama. in 1861, contracted measles while marching in rain there. Measles settled in his eyes and he was nearly blind the rest of his life. His commanders were  Goodwin or Goodman and Ashford. In 1864 he was left at hospital in Moulton, Alabama. where he  helped care for the wounded and was cared for himself. He never was able to go back to field. Henry Miley, (Private, Company “I” 1st Alabama Infantry Reserves) Enlisted April 1863 at Selma, Alabama. Captured and sent to Ship Island.  After surrender was sent to Vicksburg and paroled.  Moved to Louisiana c1888; applied for pension there. Source: Martha Gates
