Joel Nichols, Jr. Obituary

THE BRANTLEY REPORTER
MARCH 27, 1912

Joel NICHOLS, Jr.- On Sunday night 18th about 11 o'clock, Mrs. Nichols heard her husband make some noise she did not understand and got up and striking a light found that her husband, J. L. Nichols had just died. J. L. was known to his neighbors as Fate. He was born December 06, 1858 and died March 18, 1912. He had been well with the exception of a cold having taken diner away from home that day. No doubt his death was the result of apoplexy or a paralytic stroke, but the News has not heard what the physicians said about it. Deceased had been a father all his life, was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church and the Masonic Fraternity. He leaves surviving his widow and several children. His remains were interred at the Mt. Ida Cemetery on Tuesday by Mt. Ida Lodge. Fate Nichols, the deceased, was a good man and citizen and did the right as any honest Christian. Rev. H. D. Wilson officiating. He was a member of the Spring Hill Baptist Church.
