Catherine's date of birth & date of death from family records: b. 28 Dec 1844 & d. 29 Dec 1924. These dates were written on the back of a picture of Elijah, Sr. that was hanging in my Aunt's living room. After her death some cousins wanted copies of the picture and when it was removed from the frame we found the dates written on the back. Elijah Andrew GIST, Sr. died 14 Feb 1878. After his death Catherine remarried (26 May 1881 in Colbert Co.) to a John David HEAPS (also buried in Old Bethel Cemetery with his 2nd wife). Catherine and John David HEAPS were divorced in 1898-1899, and he married Mary I. FORE on 04 Jul 1899 in Franklin Co., AL

Elijah Andrew Gist, Jr. (son of 82 & 83 and brother of 58) was my grandfather. When his mother died in Dec 1924, his wife was 8 mos. pregnant with their 17th child (my father). My grandfather rode a horse from Iuka, MS to Spring Valley for the funeral.
