Northeast Pennsylvania (NEPA) became a bustling area in the mid to late 1800s, when coal mines and railroads were major US industries. We have our share of DAR families, many of whom migrated from New York and Connecticut, but we're particularly known for the diversity of immigrants who came to the region, drawn by the promise of jobs. This diversity exists to this day, and is seen in the names we carry and the variety of festivals celebrated all over the region. Whether you come from a family of Welsh miners or of German shopkeepers, hopefully you'll find something here to help you in your research.
