Are you interested in history and genealogy? You are invited to join the Autauga Genealogical Society (AGS). Although our primary focus is on the old Autauga counties of Autauga, Elmore, or Chilton, you don't have to have roots in Autauga County or even Alabama  to benefit from membership in our organization.

Our objective is to promote, collect, and preserve the genealogy and history of Autauga County. We have an extensive collection of information housed in the Alabama Room of the Autauga-Prattville Public Library and are continually working with the library to purchase more books. Much of this data is also available on-line. We encourage you to send us your family charts and data so that they can be shared with your fellow researchers.

Except for the months of June, July, August, December, and occasional field trips, meetings are held the third Sunday of each month at 2 p.m. at 131 North Washington Street behind the Primary School and across the street from Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church. Our programs range from local and Southern history, genealogy, and culture to other topics of interest to genealogists and historians. Visitors are always welcome.

AGS membership is $25 per household and includes:

Hope to see you at our next meeting!

“When you trace your genealogy, you find connections to many of the people and events that shaped history. History is not the story of some old irrelevant strangers. No. History is your story. Your family was there - your grandmothers and grandfathers, uncles and aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces. If not for them, you wouldn't even be here.”
