About AlaBenton:
AlaBenton Genealogical Society, organized in
1976, meets monthly, except for June, July and August, In the
Ayers Room, second floor of the Anniston-Calhoun County Public
Library. Parking is available in the lot behind the library,
which is easily accessed from Wilmer Avenue. Meeting
dates and scheduled programs are shown on the Meetings page of
this website.
Meetings:
Regular monthly meetings feature a
brief business meeting and a presentation by a guest speaker or
an AlaBenton member with some experience in a particular
subject related to family or local history. This is followed by
a fellowship period and member-furnished refreshments.
Officers
and Committees:
Officers for the coming year are elected by the members
following the presentation of the Nominating Committee’s
recommendations. These consist of a President, a Vice
President, a Secretary and a Treasurer. The chairpersons for
the Membership Committee (a standing committee required under
our By-Laws), the Hospitality, Notification, Cards, FaceBook,
Publicity, Registration, Website and Newsletter chairpersons
are appointed by the President.
Membership:
Prospective new members
and renewing members may obtain a blank membership
application form in the Alabama Room to complete and either bring to a meeting or
mail to: AlaBenton Genealogical Society
Treasurer, 108 East 10th Street, Anniston, AL 36201,
along with a check for $20 to cover membership for one calendar
year. For new members joining October 1 or later, this
covers the balance of the initial year and the following year.
For renewing members, dues are due in January of each renewal
year and they cover only that calendar year.
