EASTON, George - D16/8/1843- At his residence, Gourock, on the 16th inst., Mr George Easton, farmer and spirit-dealer, in his 50th year. The deceased was among the tallest men in Scotland, his height being 6 feet 7 1/2 inches.

EDGAR, Mrs. - D4/4/1863 - At Sunny Brae Cottage, Creebridge, on the 4th inst., Mrs Edgar, aged 91.

EDGAR, Alex - in the WFP 27/11/1879 - "On Tuesday morning last a fishing boat with three men left the harbour for the purpose of lifting their lines. When a short distance north of Cairnryan Point, a sudden squall from the hills struck the boat which immediately filled and went down. Two of the men named Alex Edgar and Andrew Heron, after swimming a short distance sank and were drowned. They were both natives of Stranraer and married. The other man, named James Polland, got hold of an oar and some pieces of wood by the aid of which he succeeded in keeping himself afloat until recovered by the crew of a Kirkcolm fishing boat." EGELSOM, Alex. - D24/10/1844 - On the 24th ult., in the 90 (99) th year of his age, Mr Alex. Egelsom, Walton Street, Oxford Road, Manchester. He was a native of Ayr, and served his apprenticeship in New-Galloway; he removed from there to Chowbent, in Lancashire, and became a mechanic. It may be said that he was the oldest cotton-machine maker of any that are now living.

ELLICE/COKE/KEPPEL, Ann Amelia - D5/8/1844 - The Dowager Countess of Leicester, daughter of the Earl of Albemarle, relict of Mr Coke of Holkham (who was subsequently Earl of Leicester), and wife of the Hon. E. Ellice, M.P. for Coventry, died on Monday last, after giving birth to a son, who survived but a few hours.
