AGNEW, Mrs Niven - D19/1/1844 - We have to report this week the demise of a worthy couple at Garliestown, who will scarcely every be forgotten there by the present generation. Than Mr Niven Agnew, who died on the night of the 17th, after a brief illness, and Mrs Agnew, who died suddenly on the 19th, few were more worthy or possessed of so much respect. For upwards of a quarter of a century they lived in the service of the Galloway family, and since upon their frugal earnings, kind and considerate to every one who required their aid.

AUGHTERSON, Thomas Gillespie - D??/6/1852 - In June last, of yellow fever, at Rio Janeiro, in his 25th year, Thomas Gillespie, sixth son of Mr William Aughterson, Castle-Douglas. The deceased, who was chief officer on board the ship "Raphael" of Liverpool, was a young man of promising abilities, and is sincerely lamented as a dutiful son and affectionate brother, and his memory will long be held dear by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.

AULD, Rev. Dr. - in WFP 21/4/1853 - It is with sincere regret that we this day announce the death of the Rev. Dr Auld, minister of the first charge in the parish of Ayr. His name is associated with the recollections of nearly every one in this district and although for a considerable time set aside from the active duties of his office, his departure has created much sorrow in the hearts of all who were acquainted with the good old man now passed away from the midst of us. - "Ayr Observer".
