Constructed: 1848

History: In 1848, Freeman Buckner Irby and his brothers Dr. John, and Dr. Edward Irby moved from Nottoway County, Virginia to Tennessee and Mississippi. Freeman settled in Panola County, Mississippi and fathered several mixed children by Lou, a slave woman whom he brought with him from Virginia. In 1850, Freeman resided in District No. 13, Panola County, Mississippi. According to census records, he had 58 slaves in 1850.

Notes: James Rainey and a guy with the last name Black both have same names of the owners of the ship "Friendship Belfast" which sailed a generation or two earlier -- transported indentured servants and maybe slaves. Leslie L. Lester
