Mickleton Parish Church

St. Lawrence's church is originally of circa 1200, with nave and aisles shorter than the present ones. It was expanded to the West and the aisles built larger in the 14th Century with splendid Decorated style windows. The 14th Century West tower, of two stages, has diagonal West buttresses, carrying a ribbed and broached spire, with four pinnacles on the broaches. The chancel was rebuilt in the 15th Century and a clerestory added to the nave. The two-storey South porch is a fine addition of 1650-60. The font, dated 1661, is modelled on Perpendicular style fonts like the one at Buckland. There is stained glass in the church by Preedy, 1869-70; Clayton & Bell, 1882 and 1889; Hardman, 1886; and Burlison & Grylls, 1922-28.
