St. James church was built in the 14th Century on the site of a Norman church. It was altered in the 15th and 16th Centuries and restored in 1864-65 by T.H. Wyatt. The church has a three-stage Perpendicular style West tower, with diagonal buttresses ending in straight quoin strips with pinnacles and embattled parapet. The nave and chancel have parapets. All the windows are Perpendicular, the tracery with small embattled transomes. The nave and aisle have wagon roofs, ceiled in the North chapel. The font has a Norman bowl, cut into a panelled octagon in the 17th Century. This bowl is mounted on a round pedestal and has a 17th Century wooden cover.
