St. Swithun's was rebuilt in 1467-77, when Henry Dene, afterwards Archbishop of Canterbury, was Prior of Llanthony. The church is mostly ashlar-faced, with a central Perpendicular tower that has battlements enriched with panels of trefoil-headed tracery. There are also gargoyles. The tower has normal buttressing, deeply moulded string courses, and large Perpendicular openings in the upper stage. In 1885-86 the chancel was given a new roof and a new East window, and the North vestry was built on. The South porch is Perpendicular style. The interior of the church has limewashed walls. The font is Transitional with a pedestal of six shafts.
