St. Peter's Chuch is Saxon in origin although most of the existing church dates from the Late Norman period of the 13th and 14th Centuries. The lower stage of the sturdy West tower is Norman and the upper stage is of the Perpendicular period. The tower has saddleback stone roof and stone bell-openings pierced with quatrefoils. The chancel of the church is mainly 13th Century and has limewashed walls. The rest of the walls inside the church are scraped back to the original stonework.
The font dates from 1200 and the bowl is ornamented in low relief with vigorous three-lobed foliage. The South door has medieval ironwork with a handsome 15th Century closing ring. There is a full complement of 19th Century stained glass in the church rendering the interior very dark. The church faces South-east down the Dunt valley. The village of Duntisbourne Abbots comprises houses and cottages, many 17th Century or earlier in origin, grouped loosely around the churchyard and making up a very picturesque Cotswold scene.
