Cromhall Parish Church

Having photographed the exterior of St. Andrew's Church in Cromhall on a previous occasion, I took the opportunity in early June 2003 of seeing its interior. The door was ajar and a friendly couple inside bid me hello. They were mounting an exhibition of photographs of Zambia, which they had visited recently on a Christian mission. They were most helpful in setting up the features of the church for photography showing me the ancient bell, the font and the Victorian stained glass.

The bell is of pre-Reformation date and hung in the tower until 1958. It had become cracked in 1954 and was due for replacement. It was originally cast by Robert Hendley circa 1450.
