St. James church is mainly 15th C but restored and enlarged by Sidney Gambier Parry in 1894-95. The Late Perp west tower is of three stages, with diagonal buttresses to half-way up the second stage. and gargoyles and battlements on the top stage. The Early 19th C font in the church is octagonal, with IHS on one panel, and on each of the other seven panels a different style of cross. The three stained glass windows in the chancel are by James Powell & Sons, 1900; the west window in the north aisle is by Wailes, 1864; the small east window in the north aisle is by Edward Payne, 1951; and the window in the south aisle is by John Hall & Son, 1929. In the churchyard there are a few good pedestal and chest tombs. The lychgate is by John Coates Carter, 1920.
