The Holy Cross church stands on a bank and like its sister-church in Minchinhampton first belonged to the Abbaye aux Dames at Caen, then to Syon Abbey. John Micklethwaite's restoration work in 1902-06 preserved many of the church's ancient features. The original Norman chancel, tower and nave mostly survive. The upper two storeys of the tower are mostly Perp with battlements. The chancel has ballflower cornices. The font is in plain Perp style. The pulpit is made from stone from Shrewsbury Abbey. The church has stained glass by Clayton & Bell; James Powell & Sons; and Christopher Whall. Also a relatively modern window by Edward Payne.
