WASHINGTON, PIERCE

Thu, 11 Dec 1997 14:27:07
My great grandmother Iva Pierce Washington was born in NC in the early
1880's and adopted by someone in Putnam County. I assume that her parents
died. I think her name was changed when she was adopted. Her name was Lilla
Ivilla Pierce but, she went by Iva. Does anyone know who her adoptive
parents were? Where do I look for Adoption records? Were they open in the
late 1800's?
