Cemetery: North Fork Baby Cemetery

1. Brown, Rick Re: North Fork Baby Cemetery. 30Jan2001. Personal email --->"Directions: Going south from Arbovale on Rt. 28 turn left on North Fork Road. Continue going east until you come to a fork in the road, taking the left fork which is still North Fork Road. Continue around a curve to the left and on the next curve take the dirt road on the next curve and go straight. Continue down this dirt road several hundred yards. Watch the telephone/electric poles on the left side of the road and when the wires cross the road to the pole on the right side of the road the cemetery is directly up the hill on the left side of the road - up on a flat section of the hill. This cemetery is directly across the road from the old "Snead" Place. Mr. Sneadager rented the home from R.W.Brown until the home burned. We (the Johnnie Brown and Ethel (Brown) Higgins family) placed a stone at the cemetery and called it "North Fork Baby Cemetery". I know that Roscoe Brown had a still born daughter and son buried there; his brother Henry had two babies buried there (although someone told me that one is buried in Arbovale); Robert and Hester Brown have twin babies buried there. There appears to be two dozen graves. I do not believe all the babies were all of the Brown family. I believed that the people of North Fork used this "Baby" graveyard to bury their young children. I have been told that the oldest child was no older than 11 years old. There appears to be no writing on any of the creek rock used to mark the graves. [Note: watch out for the Rattlesnakes and this is no joke!!!] "
