Harlan Lank Mitchell 
Mr. Harlan Lank Mitchell, 83, of Sugar Grove died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at his home.
He was born March 6, 1929 at Moyers and was the son of the late Whitney Olen Mitchell and Beulah Grace
Propst Mitchell.Mr. Mitchell was a farmer and an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S.
Army Military Police in Korea and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.Surviving are one son, Jeffrey Harlan Mitchell and his wife, Diana Lynn of Strasburg, VA; two granddaughters,
Grace Elizabeth Mitchell and Abby Lynn Mitchell.He was also preceded in death by one infant son.
Funeral services were held Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church with Revs. Wendy & Craig Richter officiating.
Burial will be at the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the

Verla Virginia Paugh
Verla Virginia Paugh, 86, of Cherry Grove, and formerly of Davis, passed away March 14, 2012.
She was born February 22, 1926, at Stringtown, a daughter of Madison Byrd and Mamey Ethel Elza Pennington.
On May 10, 1948, she was married to Robert Richard Harrington Paugh who preceded her in death, October 11,
1960.Surviving are three sons, Lewis Richard Lee Paugh and wife, Sharon of Baker, John Herman Paugh and wife,
Eva of Fisher, William Kirk Paugh and wife, Sherry of Petersburg; four daughters, Gloria Lynn Mick and husband, Johnny, Ellen Louise Paugh Hartman, all Cherry Grove, Brenda Faye Paugh White, Moorefield, Sharon Rose Brown and husband, Marvin of Flemington; one sister Annabelle Pennington, 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.She was also preceded in death by two sisters Lois and infant sister Emily May Pennington and brother Clarence
Pennington.Funeral services were held at the Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis, with the Rev George Lambert officiating.
Interment to follow in the Davis Cemetery.

Hugh David Gilbert, 59, of Ft. Seybert, peacefully joined his Savior on March 13, 2012 after a short fierce battle
with advanced cancer.He was born at Aiken, SC on August 20, 1952, the son of the late Hubert C. Gilbert and Myrtle Parris Gilbert.
Mr. Gilbert was a 1970 graduate of Oakton High School, attended Northern Virginia Community College, and
was an active church member.Hugh was a lead vocalist and guitarist for Vapor 4:14. He passionately worked in designing and building custom
cabinetry, shared his amazing talent and love of music with our community and raised his children with unending love and fervent dedication. As a husband, he fostered a spiritual relationship with his wife and provided deep seeded memories of spontaneity and fun for a lifetime.His wife, Donna Jean Gilbert survives.
Also surviving are five children and step-children, Brian Gilbert, Molly Gilbert Case and husband, Matt, Matthew
Gilbert, Stacey Kenyon and husband, Adam and Chad Keehn and wife, Carrie; seven grandchildren, Malachi, Josiah, Marlee, Madison, Austin, Ryan, and Landon; and sister, Ruth Kitchen.Pastor Pat Godfrey conducted a memorial service on Saturday in the Chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home,

Johnie Denton Miller, age 84, of Seneca Rocks, WV departed this life on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Grant
Memorial Hospital.Born March 31, 1927 in Seneca Rocks, he was a son of the late Denton Miller and Chloe (Lough) Miller.
Mr. Miller was a lifelong farmer and a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church. He had a strong
sense of humor and he lived life to its fullest.Surviving are two brothers, Truman Miller and wife, Connie of Seneca Rocks, and Worth Miller and wife,
Patty of Cabins, with whom he resided the past year; five sisters: Pauline Phares of Maysville, Sweetie Vance and companion John of Seneca Rocks, Mae Sites and husband, Earl Sites of Cabins, Velma Bland and husband, Gar of Seneca Rocks, Josie Champ and husband, Dayton of Lahmansville; three sisters-in-law, Imogene Miller of Petersburg, Mary Ann Miller of Spotsylvania, VA, and Betty Miller of Newburg, MD; one brother-in-law, Nat Rao of Petersburg; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews.He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Joy Rao and infant Joann Miller; and three brothers, Gene, Dewey
and Roosevelt Miller.Funeral services were held Saturday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Charles "Dusty" Twigg
