Elmer M. Skidmore |
10 Mar 1983 Elmer M. Skidmore, 51, a resident of Route 1, Montrose, and the office manager of Seneca Supply, died at 11 a.m. Sunday {March 8, 1983}, in the West Virginia University Hospital. He had been admitted to an Elkins hospital on March 3, and later transferred to Morgantown. Born on Aug. 10, 1929, at Webster Springs, he was a son of Archie M. Skidmore of Norton and Virginia Kittle Skidmore of Elkins. On April 29, 1960, in Oakland, Md., he married the former Margaret Guire, who survives. Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Bertie Kittle, Elkins; two daughters, Mrs. Theodore (Eleanor) Ware, Jr., Route 1, Kerens and Elizabeth Skidmore, at home; one son, Michael, at home; and two sisters, Mrs. Arlene Ringer, Elkins and Mrs. Jack (Janet) Smith, Norton. Preceding him in death were one brother, Don Skidmore and one granddaughter. Mr. Skidmore attended schools in Norton and Coalton High School. While a member of the U. S. Marine Corps, he received his high school diploma. He had worked for several years with the wholesale gasoline and oil distributors in this area. He had also worked for a number of years for the P.K. Harness Distributors, the former Pure Oil Company and Union 76. Mr. Skidmore was a member
of Elkins Lodge No. 108 A.F. and A.M., Elkins Chapter No. 35, R.A.M.,
the Pilgrim Commandery No. 21 of Elkins, the Osiris Temple and the Scottish
Rites, both of Wheeling, the Tygarts Valley Shrine Club of Elkins and
the Elkins Lodge No. 1135 B.P.O.E. |
