to express our sincere condolences to Mike's
family and friends. Mike was an important
contributor to our web site providing us with
important information on the Kittle and closely
related families. His work was a greatly
appreciated addition to our knowledge of the
Arnold Hill families. He will be greatly
missed. |

June
29, 1949 - September 03, 2008 went home to
be with the Lord late Wednesday night, September
3rd, bravely battling Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease
for 11 1/2 months. Mike is survived
by his wife of 32 years Cheryl of Colorado
Springs and daughter Rachel of Aurora, CO.
He is also survived by sister Nancy (Holland)
Lawrence of Macon, GA, brother Lawrence C.
Holland, Jr. of Macon, GA, sister Peggy (Holland)
Shed of Fort Valley, GA, beloved aunt Sarah
(Smith) Atcheson of Macon, GA, and many nieces
and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Lawrence
C. and Anna Lee (Smith) Holland. Mike
was born on June 29, 1949 in Elkins, WV and
raised in Macon, GA graduating Crawford County
H. S. in 1969. He went into the Army
serving his country for 8 years in Vietnam,
South Korea, Germany, and Homestead, FL. His
numerous commendations include the National
Defense Service, Vietnam Service Medal with
four Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal,
Army Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary
Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palms,
Good Conduct Medal, two Sharpshooter Medals,
two service stripes, two overseas bars.
He was honorably discharged in 1977.
He married his beloved Cheryl in 1976 and
settled in Macon, GA, where daughter Rachel
was born in 1980. Shortly afterward,
in 1983, they relocated to Marlbough, MA and
then to Colorado Springs, CO in 1989.
Mike was an active member of Springs Community
Church and a strong family man with a passion
for fishing, camping, road trips and history.
His compassion, heart, and ability to pray
for everyone has touched many lives and he
will be dearly missed. He has completed
his work on Earth and is now at home with
his God. Memorial Services will be held
at 4:00 PM Sunday, September 07, 2008 at Springs
Community Church, 7290 Lexington Drive, Colorado
Springs, CO... In lieu of flowers please make
donations to Springs Community Church.
Burial at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver,
CO will take place at a later date. |
